Unduk-Naru Ferry Terminal
Unduk-Naru proposes the ferry terminal as a hill—an open platform where people can discover their own space, meaning, and events, with the terminal’s functional requirements tucked beneath. Rather than presenting an iconic object as a fixed image of a ‘port’ with rigid, designated programs, Unduk-Naru’s architecture emphasizes the ever-changing nature of human behaviors such as waiting, viewing, playing, meeting, and departing. The hill serves as a public space, inviting people to participate in the continual creation of the ‘Naru’—a reference to traditional ferry ports in Korea.
